Reminder! New EPA rules in effect: What you need to know and how ABCO can help.

• As of January 1, 2018, you must be EPA certified in order to purchase refrigerants containing CFCs, HCFCs or HFCs.

• Technicians must handle all HFC refrigerants and appliances containing HFC refrigerants in the same manner that they now handle ozone-depleting refrigerants. Intentional release of refrigerant during the maintenance, service, repair or disposal of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment is prohibited.

• For technicians who dispose of appliances with 5-50 pounds of refrigerant, there will be new record keeping requirements.

HOW ABCO CAN HELP YOU

As always, if you need certification, call to schedule a test at your local branch. If you’re already EPA certified there’s no need to take the test, you’re automatically grandfathered.

Classes on Section 608 Technician Certification will be held at regional ABCO locations. More info coming soon, please contact your ABCO Branch Team.
