Daikin ATMOSPHERA: New Jersey’s First R-32 Installation

ABCO HVACR Supply + Solutions, Daikin Comfort Technologies and Tom Rostron Co. have teamed up to install the first Daikin ATMOSPHERA unit with R-32 refrigerant in Toms River, New Jersey. With recent regulatory changes that now allow for units with R-32 refrigerant to be installed in the state of New Jersey, ABCO and Daikin are leading the industry with the switch to the next generation of refrigerants that have lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) than R-410A. Proven and reliable, R-32 is an A2L refrigerant widely used around the world today, with over 160 million R-32 units made by over 40 manufacturers and installed in more than 90 countries.

The Daikin ATMOSPHERA Single-Zone System is ideal for addressing spot cooling and heating needs in residential and commercial spaces, even in extreme ambient temperatures as it can get up to 100% heating capacity at 5°F. In addition, Daikin ATMOSPHERA is an effective source of heat to offset old, inefficient furnaces or boiler systems while also aligning with decarbonization and electrification goals.

“One of the advantages of this being an R-32 unit is that its environmental impact is significantly less than any of the other refrigerants out there,” said Tom Rostron. “You can’t get a higher efficiency unit. It’s the first R-32 unit in the state of New Jersey and we’re excited about it. This is the way of the future right here.”

Another great feature found on Daikin ATMOSPHERA units is noted by Tom Rostron: “With Daikin ATMOSPHERA a portion of the coil will freeze up on purpose for mass dehumidification and at same time kick itself into a dry mode to then dry it, so it doesn’t build mold. It’s genius. No other unit has it.”
